The Livingstone Island

Five trips are offered everyday to Livingstone Island. A boat that carries up to 16 people will take you through the fast-moving channels of the Zambezi, a thrilling journey. Once on the island, you will be given a guided tour, learning about its history from ancient times, when it served as a sacrificial site, to the present day and its World Heritage status. GENERAL INFORMATION Access to this unique Island is seasonal and depends entirely on the water level in the Zambezi River. In low water season, approximately end of August to December, guests have the opportunity to swim in Devil’s Pool which is a rock pool right on the lip of the falls accompanied by a guide. The best vantage point from where to witness the Victoria Falls immense mass of water is the Livingstone Island, the place where Dr David Livingstone first glimpsed Mosi-oa-Tunya (The Smoke That Thunders).
